5 Party Appetisers for Your Next Christmas Gathering

February 25, 2022

Want to throw the best Christmas party? These appetisers will blow your guests away! Combine them with our stunning Christmas cocktails for an incredibly festive soirée.

  1. Caprese Candy Cane

This appetiser is so simple but so cool. All you need is pre-sliced mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, olive oil, sea salt and crusty bread. Balsamic vinegar or basil is optional. Arrange the ingredients to resemble a candy cane, garnishing it with the oil and sea salt before assembling the bread alongside it.

2. Olive Penguins

These Olive Penguins are adorable, so much so you may feel guilty eating them. What you’ll need are both small and large black olives, cream cheese, baby carrots and toothpicks. Start with the feet and slice the carrots into thin disks with a piece taken out of them. Cut the olive from top to bottom before scooping the insides out and fill it with cream cheese. Secure the body with the toothpick before adding the top olive for a head. Lastly, cut a small triangular slice of carrot for the beak and stick it into the opening of the top olive.

3. Egg Snowman

Here are some friends for your Olive Penguins! For these cute snowmen, you’ll need small and large hardboiled eggs, peppercorns, carrots, uncooked spaghetti, parsley and a skewer. Firstly, cut the carrot into two sizes, one larger and one slightly smaller for the hat. Cut off the top and bottom of the eggs and spear the skewer through it to make a hole. Remove the skewer and do the same to the carrots. Stick the spaghetti through the eggs and the carrot slices together and snap off the extra lengths sticking out. Make small holes for the eyes, nose and buttons using the skewer. Insert a peppercorn into each hole, but a small piece of carrot in for the nose. Lastly, stick some parsley into the side of the figure to resemble a broom.

4. Hotdog Stockings

For these appetisers, all you’ll need is any form of sausage or frankfurter, some cream cheese and a skewer. Firstly, cook the sausages and chop them angularly into segments. Stick 2 pieces of the sausage onto the stick to resemble a stocking. Last but not least, add some cream cheese to the top to resemble a fur trim. Additionally, you can even use some herbs and a piece of red bell pepper for some holly.

5. Christmas Tree Cheese Board

What a simple yet wonderful idea. Cheeseboards are a must for any party. Theming them for the time of year is an easy and creative way to dress them up. For this one, you’ll need 3 different types of cheese, green grapes, red grapes, rosemary, thyme, crackers and toothpicks. To ensure the tree comes out even, use baking paper cut out in the right shape. Start at the top, arrange one colour of cheese cut into wedges. Then, add a row of red grapes. Alter the next rows between cheese, green grapes followed by cheese and then red grapes and so on. Make a star for the top using a red grape for the centre before connecting green grapes to it with the toothpicks. Lastly, garnish with rosemary and thyme.
