We listed our favourite vegan dishes for Christmas and now it’s time for dessert. There are many different treats to make that are not only vegan but also delicious. Here are some of the best vegan desserts that are incredibly festive.
Ok, so brownies are perfect any time of the year. However, these brownies are particularly festive. They’re also gluten-free, soy-free and nut-free, as well as being vegan. What you will need for this recipe is gluten-free flour, coconut or brown sugar, cocoa powder, ground cinnamon, mixed spice or pumpkin pie spice mix, baking powder, bicarbonate soda, a pinch of salt, unsweetened applesauce or apple puree, unsweetened almond milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, vegan dark chocolate chips and vegan-friendly mincemeat (mince pie filling). Even if you don’t like mince pies, you’ll love these brownies.
Start by preheating your oven to 180c and lining an 8×8 inch brownie tin with baking paper. Then, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, spices, baking powder, soda and salt together in a large bowl. After this, stir in the applesauce, almond milk, oil and vanilla to make a smooth batter. Next, fold in the chocolate chips and mincemeat before transferring the mixture to the baking tin and baking for 25-30 minutes. Finally, leave them to cool before cutting them up.

2. Gingerbread Loaf with Cranberry Glaze
This recipe sounds not only incredibly festive but also incredibly tasty. You will need all-purpose flour, hot water, molasses, canola oil, organic light brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, vanilla extract for the loaf. For the cranberry glaze, you’ll need powdered sugar, cranberry juice and vanilla extract.
Start by preheating the oven to 180c before spraying an 8×4 loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray. Next, heat the water until its the temperature of bathwater. After this, stir in the molasses and mix. Add the canola oil, apple cider vinegar and vanilla and stir. Combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl before adding the wet ingredients. Mix until combined, but don’t overmix. Pour the batter into the loaf pan and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow it cool for 5 minutes before turning it out onto a cooling rack.

3. Peppermint Meltaway Christmas Cookies
Even just the title of this dessert sounds so delicious. All you need is vegan butter, powdered sugar, peppermint extract, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, teaspoon salt and candy canes or peppermint sweets crushed. Firstly, preheat the oven to 180c and line a baking tray with baking paper. Next, combine the softened butter with half of the powdered sugar and whip with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add the peppermint extract before mixing again. After this, slowly add the flour, cornstarch and salt and mix with a wooden spoon.
Combine the rest of the powdered sugar and the crushed candy canes in a separate bowl. Next, roll the dough into 24 balls and add it to the powdered sugar bowl mixture. Roll each ball to evenly coat it. Lastly, place the balls on the baking tray. Be sure to space them about 1 inch apart before baking until they turn golden brown on the bottom or for 20-25 minutes. When they have cooled, return them to the powdered sugar bowl and coat them gently again.
