Christmas parties are often the highlight of the holiday period. Meeting up with friends and family for a night of festive fun is almost essential for the time of year. While any party can be great fun, why not theme your Christmas party this year? Here are some cool party themes for your festive fun this year.
The Gift Exchange Party – My Favourite Things
This party theme is perfect for a creative gift exchange. What you need to do is buy three of your favourite items. It could be a book, a lip balm, a body spray or a bar of chocolate. You can choose anything you love. When everyone is at the party and has their own collection of favourite items, draw names. Each person can choose three items from the selection of favourite items. This is a great idea that takes out the hassle of trying to get the perfect gift for people you may not know that well or on a small budget.
The Foodies Party – Christmas Treat Decorating
Baking and decorating festive treats sounds like an ideal way to spend a few hours with your loved ones. Simply invite some friends over and gather some ingredients. For this party, you can either pre-bake treats before your guests come over (or they can) or you can bake them together. You can decorate any treat you want, but a batch of Christmas biscuits is probably the easiest. After you’ve made the fun tree or reindeer shaped biscuits, get some icing pens and decorative toppings. You can also prepare a batch of hot chocolate for something sweet as you work.
The Active Party – Murder Mystery
Okay, the theme isn’t necessarily festive. However, it’s still incredibly fun! Murder Mystery games are a great excuse to dress up in cool clothing or to add some props to your look. If you’re the host, a simple Google search will bring up a number of different storylines, each tailored to the number of people you have. All you need to do is print out these packs, with one copy for each character. Prior to the party, you give each person the rundown on what they need to wear or bring. Then, upon their arrival, hand out the printed-out guide and get down to solving the mystery.
The Music Party – Christmas Karaoke
Let’s face it, most Christmas parties are going to break into song and dance at some part of the evening. So, why not kick it off that way? Christmas Karaoke is the perfect excuse to blare festive tunes and sing along with them – even if you don’t have a musical bone in your body. If you have a specific karaoke machine, great! However, it’s not a huge issue if you don’t. There are karaoke versions of many songs online, or you can simply play a song on Spotify or YouTube and sing along. Dance moves not mandatory, but extremely welcome.
The Movie Party – Becoming Elf
For this party, it helps if you love the movie Elf. Put together your best elf costume and invite your guests over to do the same. Settle down to watch the iconic film, but not before having a bit of silly fun! You can serve your guests the “appealing” spaghetti with maple syrup and sweets on top. You could create some trivia games based on the film, or even make Elf-themed treats or crafts.
